Introduction

OXUN designs and manufactures bespoke bathroom vanity units in Rye, East Sussex (UK). This concise manual covers safe handling, installation, operation, and care of OXUN vanity units. Current as of 15 Aug 2025.

Scope

This guide applies to wallhung and floorstanding OXUN vanity units, worktops and drawers as supplied, including bespoke variations.

Key Materials & Finishes

  1. Hidrofugo moistureresistant board (for humid environments)
  2. Solid oak & walnut; bamboo (natural timber options)
  3. Richlite (papercomposite) drawer/fronts or carcass elements on some models
  4. Real oak/walnut veneer on ply or MDF cores (for stability on larger faces)
  5. Finishes: painted (1–2 primer coats, sanding between stages, 2 top coats) or 2–3 coats matt lacquer on timber

Handling & Storage

  1. Keep packaged units dry; store flat on a level surface.
  2. Lift by the carcass—do not lift by drawers, fronts or worktop.
  3. Acclimatise in the installation room (min. 24 hours) before fixing.

PreInstallation Checks

  1. Verify wall type, fixing positions and level/flatness.
  2. Confirm plumbing routes and allow for drawer cutouts and pipe clearances.
  3. If you need tap holes in worktops, supply sizes/locations promptly after order acknowledgement (per product notes).
  4. Check all components received: unit, fronts, drawers, runners, legs/brackets, worktop, basin (if supplied).

Installation – General

  1. Competent installer recommended. OXUN cannot accept liability for incorrect installation.
  2. Protect finishes during handling; remove drawers/fronts before lifting where possible.
  3. Seal all junctions exposed to water (backs, sides, worktop edges, basin perimeter) with suitable sanitary sealant.
  4. Avoid trapping services: verify drawer clearances and waste positions before final fixing.

Installation – WallHung Units

  1. Use appropriate fixings for wall substrate; fix through structural members or chemical anchors where required.
  2. Set bracket height for finished basin height as specified; check level in both axis before tightening.
  3. Allow for service access and movement of drawers; refit and adjust fronts after fixing.

Installation – FloorStanding Units

  1. Level carcass using feet/shims; fix back to wall to prevent tiprisk.
  2. Undermount basins: allow topdrawer cutout clearances per model; do not fieldcut drawer boxes except where designed.
  3. Where stated, worktops and ceramic basins are supplied loose to prevent transport damage—fit on site.

Plumbing & Electrical (where applicable)

  1. Drawers feature waste cutouts; some designs may require trimming the back board on site for plumbing runs.
  2. For models with motion/approach LED lighting, provide a suitable mains feed per site regulations (isolation outside splash zones).
  3. Pressuretest and leaktest before refitting drawers; wipe any standing water immediately.

Operation

  1. Drawers: pushtoopen (or softclose, per model). Do not overload beyond runner ratings; distribute weight evenly.
  2. LED motion lighting (where fitted): confirm power/isolation; do not immerse components or modify wiring.
  3. Please refer to instructions supplied on how to adjust and maintain the drawer runners correctly. This includes information on how to resolve noisy drawer runners.

Cleaning & Care

General

  1. Wipe spills promptly; never allow standing water on horizontal surfaces or at panel joints.
  2. Use a soft cloth with mild, nonabrasive cleaner; avoid scourers and aggressive chemicals.
  3. Maintain bathroom ventilation to manage humidity (especially with timber).

Painted Finishes

  1. Dust with a soft cloth; clean with diluted, pHneutral solution.
  2. Avoid harsh solvents; repair chips promptly to prevent moisture ingress.

Lacquered Timber

  1. Clean with slightly damp cloth; dry immediately.
  2. Expect natural colour/grain variation; avoid direct heat or prolonged UV exposure.

Richlite & Solid Surfaces

  1. Wipe with mild soap solution; avoid bleach and abrasives.
  2. Avoid excessive heat.

Worktops & Tap Holes

  1. Unless specified, worktops are supplied without tap holes (often for wallmounted taps).
  2. If tap holes are required, confirm sizes/centres shortly after ordering or drill on site using correct tooling and support.
